Join us at Trinity Cathedral Miami as we read the bible in one year...you can start at any time.
We will start reading as a community on Monday, February 4th, 2013!
Dear Friends,
At the beginning of February, we here at the Cathedral will join with Episcopalians all over the country to participate in "The Bible Challenge." This opportunity stemmed from a resolution at the Summer 2012 General Convention of the Church and encourages people to read the entire Bible in a year. It is not as daunting a task as it seems! An easy schedule of Scripture readings is provided for daily use, and there are commentaries and reflections on each passage to help you out. One of the things that is intriguing is that this can be done at your own pace and anywhere you want! No classes to sit through, no clergy droning on about newly-discovered 4th century manuscripts...just you and the great stories of our faith: the poetry, history, letters and love letters that our forbearers thought so important that they held them close to their hearts, told them to their children, then wrote them down to share with the world.
I urge you to consider this challenge and opportunity. It can be not only a learning experience, but a way to deepen your faith as well. Join us on Sunday, February 3 after each of the morning services (8, 10, and 12:15) to hear about the program and how you can be a part of it. Check the links on this site and/or ask one of the clergy for more information.
In a world of constant motion and commotion, "The Bible Challenge" invites us to sit still for a while and hear how people of faith through the centuries have connected with God in their everyday lives...and how we can have that connection in ours as well.
See you in church,
Doug McCaleb
